exceptional 8 shot  pepperbox I recently bought in France, caliber circa .26 percussion, 3½" screw-in Damascus barrels, single action, while cocking the hammer one can unfold the trigger, frame and hammer deeply engraved,  butt cap with lady's face can be opened to store caps, crisp checkered grip, the barrel-cluster is hand-revolved  and kept in position with a strong spring. No visible markings - therefore not Belgian or British. Because the free, not protected pistons it is an early variation and probably made during the late 1840's. An outstanding and very attractive pepperbox in good working order, NRA excellent condition.    $7,250.
