Austrian flintlock pistol 1720 - 1760
a high quality flintlock pistol, made circa 1720 -1760,
it is not marked but very similar to pistols made by Zellner, Salzburg in
Austria. The caliber is .50 smoothbore, the barrel is 10½"
part round - part octagonal. The pistol is highly decorated with gilded brass
mounts showing figures, stand of Arms and the Austrian two-headed eagle,
full stocked and nicely carved, original ramrod with horn-tipped ramrod. Lock
and hammer are fully and deeply engraved, and it is in perfect working order. With very
minor traces of usage in excellent condition.
A very eye-catching and early pistol
$5,500.
