An outstanding, high quality, cased pair of British dueling /
duelling pistols. They are high quality, caliber .60 smooth bore, with no rear sight. The
barrels are about 8 1/2 inches in length with an overall length of 14 inches.
The barrels have a very nice twist pattern showing in the metal. The stocks have
all the original finish with minor nicks. The checkering is sharp and crisp. The
ramrods are original with screw-off caps which reveal a bullet worm. The locks
are marked Henry Probin. The barrels are marked Henry Probin, Snow Hill. Both
barrels have mandatory British proof stamps. The locks, breeches, trigger
guards and screws, are intricately engraved. The actions are crisp. The
case is an English deluxe, brass bound mahogany with a lift ring in the top. The
lining of the case is a coarse weave wool baize. There is a Dixon screwdriver,
scissors mold, ramrod, powder flask and cap tin accompanying the case. The case
has minor dents and one age crack in the lid.
