American double action revolver of presentation grade

American double action revolver of presentation grade showing deluxe gold plated finish, fancy gutta-percha grips encased in a fine leather and velvet-lined fitted case with rosewood exterior. The revolver measures approximately 10¼” overall with a 4¾” seven-sided barrel with dovetail front sight. The revolver shows a spring release mounted on left side of frame with automatic Webley - Pryse - type ejection system and is chambered for the .38 short cartridge. The revolver is completely unmarked and only serial numbered #1 beneath the barrel and on the ejector ring. It is fine condition showing circa 95% original period gold plating just slightly drifting at the muzzle and grip strap with bright blue small parts and springs. The fancy gutta-percha grips show floral grape vines with rampaging lion. The interior of the case is unusually recessed and fitted to this revolver with a purple velveteen lining and a leather outer lining to the interior of the case, which is a very unusual method. The case has a block for nine fitting Remington UMC 38. short cartridges and shows a recess for a cleaning rod, which is retained. The exterior of the case, which is a veneered rose wood, is in fine condition with some small dings, with a #1 inlaid in ivory on top of the case. Probably only one made because nobody saw a second piece. A very interesting set sold
